About Zaya
I am a guitar teacher with over 11 years of experience coaching students for live performances, recording sessions, auditions, and music school entry. I hold a Diploma of Music with a Guitar Specialisation. My teaching style is encouraging and focused, helping students build both skill and confidence. I place strong emphasis on stage presence, ensuring my students feel comfortable and expressive when performing. Technical mastery is important, but I also nurture creative freedom and individual musical voice. I work closely with each student to tailor lessons to their goals, whether it’s mastering a challenging piece, preparing for an audition, or performing live. I guide them through technique, finger independence, rhythm, and expression. I also incorporate mental preparation and performance strategies to manage nerves and bring out their best. Seeing students grow, explore their creativity, and achieve musical excellence is my greatest reward. I make learning guitar both challenging and enjoyable, helping each student shine in their own way.

My teaching approach focuses on helping students grow as confident, skilled guitarists, whether they are beginners or more advanced players. I emphasise not just playing the guitar, but understanding it deeply. Lessons include classical, jazz, electric, bass, and acoustic techniques. I guide students in developing proper body posture and hand positioning to prevent strain and play efficiently. Finger independence and dexterity exercises are a key part of my method, helping students perform complex passages with ease. Mental preparation is also important; I teach focus, patience, and strategies to overcome performance anxiety. I work with students who are curious, energetic, and eager to explore new styles, encouraging creativity while building solid technique. Stage readiness is part of my lessons, preparing students for auditions, recitals, or performances with confidence. I use a mix of repertoire-based learning, practical exercises, and interactive jam sessions. I support every student in developing their own voice on the guitar. My goal is to make learning enjoyable while helping them achieve tangible progress. Whether it’s mastering fingerstyle, improvisation, or rhythm patterns, I ensure students feel challenged and motivated. By combining technique, musicality, and performance skills, I help students excel in all areas of guitar playing.
