About Matthew
"Precision matters when I teach, and honestly, I am quite pedantic about guitar maintenance. I earned my MMus at the Australian National Academy of Music, where I spent years refining my own craft before teaching for 9 years. My approach balances technical rigor with a direct style that gets results.
Students often come to me feeling nervous, whether they are total beginners or preparing for intense grade exams. I adjust my methods to meet you exactly where you are standing right now. It is just the music."

"The smell of cold fretboard metal signals the start of our time together. We work through scales, modes, and rhythm guitar, often utilizing custom backing tracks so you can practice soloing at home.
I use my performance background to help you navigate complex chord transitions and barre chords. Blues progressions and songwriting technique occupy the latter half of our time together. My MMus training informs the way I break down lead guitar lines for clarity. You leave with clear homework and a plan."
