About Kerry
Hey, I am Kerry, a grade 10 student studying in Toronto. I have been playing piano for 10 years now. I have received The Royal Conservatory of Music from levels 5 to 8. I am currently pursuing level 9 and preparing for a few upcoming piano virtual competition. The reason why I want to become a piano teacher is my piano teacher made a huge impact on my music journey. My piano teacher has turned piano from something that I used to hate the most to my passion. Therefore, I want to also become a teacher that can inspire young pianist.

As I have mentioned above, piano used to be a burden for me. However, it had changed when I met my current piano teacher. Therefore, I respect the teaching methodology of my piano teacher.
In my class, I would go through songs and piano techniques just like other teachers. When children don't understand a certain concept, I will change up the wording to make it more understandable. I wouldn't let my students play the piano continuously as that will be tiring. Once they have finished performing their pieces, I would talk to them about the background of the composer or the techniques that are being used in the piece. This way, when students need to take piano theory, it will be much more easier and comfortable for them. Another note to add is students in my class can speak freely, of whatever they want. Music is happy, not a deadened atmosphere. Thank you :)
