About Miriam

I am a fourth-year student at the University of Toronto studying Global Health and Biology. I took IB math in high school and received a 98% overall average across my math courses. I am also currently doing statistics work for a lab at the Toronto General Hospital. I have five years of tutoring experience, along with one year at Kumon and three summers as a sports coach at McMaster’s Sports Fitness School. Outside of school, I enjoy playing soccer, kayaking, watching sports, and traveling. I also have a pet gecko named Cricket, who is 10 years old!

About the lesson

I have been tutoring 1-on-1 and teaching at Kumon for five years. My tutoring approach is centered on adaptability and engagement. I work with students from elementary through grade 12, adjusting my style to suit each learner’s needs and goals. I focus on creating a supportive, encouraging, and fun environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and tackling challenges. A typical session balances review, practice, and interactive discussion to reinforce understanding. With my extroverted and energetic personality, I keep lessons lively and motivating while tailoring strategies to different learning styles so every student can succeed.
