About Emily
A typical lesson often begins with a quick check of your tuning and maintenance habits. I will admit that I am quite obsessive about ensuring your guitar is perfectly set up before we start playing. We move into chord transitions and barre chords as foundational elements for your growth.
Sometimes we spend a full session on scales and modes or the nuance of reading sheet music. I provide simplified arrangements based on your specific song requests to keep things fun.
Reading tabs becomes second nature through our repetitive drills. Improvisation and soloing are also core parts of our time together. We prioritise your musical growth above all else.
This process feels natural and steady. You can count on a supportive and structured environment.

Sometimes I admit that my hands still ache after a particularly long day of practising difficult fingerpicking patterns. It is that physical connection to the instrument that defines my teaching style after 13 years of experience. I have had the pleasure of guiding 372 students including kids, teens, and advanced learners towards their own musical milestones. Working with such a diverse group keeps my perspective fresh and ensures I can explain complex acoustic technique in ways that actually resonate.
