About Brenda

My homeland is Cuba, a Caribbean island known for its musical history and its exotic and complex rhythms. I studied piano and theoretical-musical subjects at the Cuban Academy from the age of 9 until I graduated from the University of the Arts of Cuba in the specialty of Musicology.

Professionally, I have worked as a music critic, scriptwriter for the national radio and television of Cuba, and as a teacher of several musical subjects, such as solfeggio (ear training), music theory and complementary piano.

I have more than 15 years of experience in the musical field of my country, during which I had dozens of students who graduated from the academy and who now work as professional musicians. I now live in Sweden, where I am also a music and Spanish teacher.

About the lesson

Working together, you can learn to play the piano and acquire/improve your knowledge of music theory. I am a private teacher/tutor working all ages and levels: children, teens, and adults, although I have specialized in beginning students and children.

The lessons are designed in correspondence with the level and objectives of each student. The goal is for you to learn the technique, and also to develop your interpretation and musicality. You will also learn the basics of music reading or we can work on voice accompaniment.

We can start with classical pieces or your favorite songs, but we will often work on technique (scales, arpeggios, chords) and rhythmic interpretation to develop your skills as a performer.

If you want to dig deeper, I also offer an exclusive course in music theory and ear training (solfeggio).

Robina has very good natural abilities. She is an attentive, dedicated and punctual learner. She reviews notes from the meetings, studies technique, and takes lessons seriously and with good spirit. At our meetings she is always willing to improve, to repeat, and to try other variations. Her performances of the pieces improved from class to class thanks to her dedication.
