About Derrek

I started playing the piano at a very young age with the traditional method: music theory, Hanon, Bach… hours of mechanical scales. I could have continued like that and become an average pianist “like the others,” playing the same pieces as everyone else, without really understanding music.

Everything changed the day I discovered jazz. A teacher taught me to see the piano differently: no longer as a series of imposed notes, but as a living language. In two years, I learned to improvise, to compose my own melodies, to understand harmony to play any piece faster, and above all to express my own voice.

Today, I don't claim to be the best pianist in the world, but I can say one thing: I play my piano, in my own way, and no one can do besides me.

This is exactly what I want to convey:
For beginners, I suggest learning to play the pieces they like, progressing step by step without getting discouraged.
For the more curious, I also teach the “alphabet” of music: understanding chords, improvising, creating your own musical phrases and, why not, improving them further.

With me, you won't just learn to play the piano. You'll learn to play your music.

Do you dream of playing the piano, but are afraid it will be too long, too technical, or reserved for “real musicians”?
Good news: it's false.

My method is designed for beginners who want concrete results quickly. No endless music theory, no boring exercises: you'll play your first pieces from the very first lessons.

And if you're curious, I'll also open the door to jazz and improvisation: learning to create your own melodies, understanding chords and finally feeling the freedom of playing without sheet music.

Each session is tailored to your pace, interests, and goals. My role: to give you the motivation, the right tools, and the confidence to progress faster than you ever imagined.

Result: you enjoy playing, right now, and you see your progress week after week.
