About Xin
I prefer teaching GCSE and A-Level students, particularly Biology and Chemistry. I’m very dedicated to my studies and I’m patient when explaining things, especially when a student is struggling with a topic. As the oldest of three sisters, I’m also used to helping younger people and being patient with them. I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions and to become more confident in their subjects.

I primarily use active recall because it is one of the most evidence-based and effective ways to consolidate knowledge. Having studied A-Level Chemistry and Biology and achieved an A in both, I am very familiar with exam mark schemes and the structure of exam questions, and can help students develop answers that meet the required criteria.
Alongside the core syllabus, I can also explain concepts beyond the required knowledge for students who are curious to explore further. My ongoing studies at UCL allow me to bring current scientific ideas into lessons. I am currently writing a paper on the origins of yeast, with a particular focus on laboratory skills and genetics. I have also attended sustainability-focused events, including the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and One Young World Munich 2025, giving me more perspective on how science connects to challenges in the real world.
My lessons are focused not just on memorising content, but on understanding, applying and confidently communicating scientific knowledge.
