About Harvey
My name is Harvey Urwin, I am a 22-year-old Student of Computer Science and dedicated nerd. I believe strongly that students who struggle academically do so because of a lack of personalisation and 1:1 time in traditional classrooms. My methods focus on tackling concepts and tasks practically (using example questions/thought experiments) and in small understandable chunks. I find that "seeing" something work is vastly superior to having its function dictated to you. I aim to specialise my teaching methods and lessons as much as possible and encourage students to be honest if they don't find my lesson helpful. I personally am a practical and visual learner, but I also have experience with flashcard memorisation or other mnemonic techniques. I have taught A level Physics and Mentored ages 11-18.

I encourage visual and interactive learning with a heavy emphasis on worked activities and discussions with students. I believe that this fosters a more intuitive understanding than more repetitive memory-based methods. Typical lessons are 1-2 hours long and are aimed towards GCSE - A level students of any age and ability. I have A* qualifications in Maths, Physics and Computer Science and am currently in my third year of a Computer Science Degree.
