About Maryam

Hi, I'm Maryam, a passionate science educator with over 4 years of experience studying and teaching chemistry and biology at the high school and college levels. My goal is to not only help you succeed in your classes, but to make complex scientific ideas feel accessible, meaningful, and even exciting. Over the years, I’ve immersed myself in the sciences both inside and outside the classroom. I’ve competed in—and won—various STEM competitions, where I put my knowledge to the test in real-world problem-solving scenarios. These experiences have sharpened my analytical thinking and reinforced the importance of a deep, conceptual understanding—something I now prioritize in my teaching style. Beyond academics, I’ve taken on leadership roles in several science-focused organizations, including serving as Vice President of the Science National Honor Society, where I helped mentor peers and promote science literacy in the community, and President of the Aspiring Physician Scientists Association, where I led initiatives connecting students with research, clinical experiences, and professional development opportunities in the biomedical sciences. These roles have strengthened my ability to communicate complex material clearly, support students at all levels, and create a structured, empowering learning environment. As a fellow student currently navigating the college experience, I bring a fresh and relatable perspective to every lesson. I understand how overwhelming science courses can feel, and I know how to break them down into manageable, logical steps that lead to real mastery—not just short-term memorization. Whether you're tackling general bio, intro chem, orgo, or biochem, I’m here to help you move from confusion to clarity with patience, structure, and a strong foundation in science.

About the lesson

My approach centers on building deep, lasting understanding rather than just providing quick answers. I believe in teaching a person to fish, not just handing them the catch—helping students develop the tools they need to approach and solve problems independently.

Each lesson starts with gauging your current understanding. From there, we build step by step, strengthening the foundation and expanding your knowledge until mastery is achieved.

As a fellow college student, I offer a unique perspective that bridges the gap between complex material and how it's actually experienced by learners today. I understand the modern student experience and aim to present challenging concepts through a fresh, relatable lens.
