About Nathan
Teaching is my favourite thing to do, and I am hoping to make a career out of it when I am finished my degree! I love to learn, and to help others learn. I have been teaching for nearly a decade, and have taught science at all levels from grade 2 all the way through an undergraduate degree. I do my very best to create a comfortable and positive learning environment. Mistakes are always treated as opportunities to learn, and questions are my favourite things!

Chemistry isn't everyone's favourite subject, and that's okay! I firmly believe that everybody is capable of doing well in chemistry, and I have a long track record of helping students reach their potential. My approach to teaching chemistry focuses on building procedural knowledge, starting with a discussion around fundamental concepts and then practice, practice, practice! I don't expect or desire any extensive memorization on my students' part. In a tutoring session, I like to begin with a broad discussion of the relevant subject matter to assess my student's level of understanding and identify any areas that need support. Then we'll focus on specific topics and discuss why things work the way they work, and the rest of the time is typically spent on practice problems and any follow-up discussion or questions.
