About Amanda
I am a final-year student at North-West University. I come from Eastern Cape and my mother was a school principal at Bethel College High School from 2012 to 2018 and my brothers and dad are teachers. I started tutoring lower grades from the time I was in grade 10 up until I started University. I started professional tutoring when I would go home in time for winter schools as well as spring schools for grade 12's. I realized that tutoring comes naturally to me because I grew up in a teaching environment surrounded by teachers. I am currently a student instructor/tutor for 1st-year Computer Science students and I thoroughly enjoy my job.

I believe in using a hybrid of teaching strategies i.e, modelling strategy for mathematical subjects, Experiential Learning for Computer Sciences or IT and so on, depending on the student and subject. I value student feedback which allows me to measure progress, identify weaknesses and strengths as well as adapting lesson plans to better suit the learner's needs. I also like my students to gain confidence in themselves which will most likely lessen the probability of making mistakes caused by self-doubt.
I offer lessons in English and Shona but I can perfectly understand and can read isiXhosa as well as reading and writing Afrikaans.
My introductory lesson would start with getting to know the student, identifying problem areas and gradually working together to improve them. The following lessons would start with feedback from the previous lesson then we can move on to that day's lesson.
I take all grades from grade 1 to 10.
