About Sophie

Currently studying a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Melbourne. I completed high school in Tasmania, receiving the highest marks in my class for Maths, and Physics. I was awarded an ATAR of 99.40.

My mother is a primary school teacher, and I had the privilege of helping her out whenever I was free throughout high school. It was really rewarding to figure out the needs of each individual student, with the aim of maximising what they were getting out of school academically. This required me to assess how an individual student learns best, and I found more progress with the students who I saw more than once, as I was able to fully understand how they think and hence figure out a personalised way to explain the topic to them.

About the lesson

MY TUTORING PHILOSOPHY:

While I have never tutored before, I am confident in my ability to provide comprehensive support to my students. I understand how quickly teachers move through content and how easy it is to fall behind, or be forced to move on before fully understanding a topic. However frequent or infrequent our sessions, I want to be available at any time for any questions you may have in the mean time. In my experience, it always helps to have an extra point of contact when you're feeling overwhelmed.

SUBJECTS I HAVE EXPERIENCE IN:

Tasmania works slightly differently than Victoria with high school and so I've completed a range of subjects listed here: Mathematical Methods 4, Physical Sciences 3, Philosophy 3, English Literature 3, Chemistry 4, Physics 4, and Mathematics Specialised 4, as well as completing two university units in maths while in year 12 (Mathematics 1A - KMA152, and Mathematics 1B - KMA154).

While my pre-tertiary education mainly revolved around Maths and Physics, my tertiary studies are very biology heavy, having completed studies in Biochemistry, organic chemistry, Anatomy, physiology, and Environmental Chemistry.
