About Ethan

My name is Ethan, and I am a university graduate from UC Davis, where I studied statistics and economics. Alongside my academic training, I developed strong skills in analytical thinking, clear communication, and structured problem-solving—skills that I now bring into my work as an English tutor.

I approach tutoring with professionalism, patience, and a strong attention to detail. I believe that effective English learning comes from understanding structure, purpose, and clarity, not just memorization. Teaching Method & Techniques

My approach to teaching English is structured, practical, and student-centered. With a background in statistics and economics from UC Davis, I bring a clear, analytical mindset to language learning—breaking complex ideas into manageable steps and helping students understand the why behind grammar, structure, and word choice. I focus on active learning through guided practice, real examples, and continuous feedback, so students build confidence as well as skill.

A Typical Lesson Plan

Each lesson is tailored to the student’s goals but generally follows a clear structure:

Warm-up & review of previous material
- Targeted instruction (e.g., grammar, writing structure, reading strategies, or speaking skills)
- Applied practice using essays, articles, or conversation prompts relevant to the student
- Feedback & correction, with explanations students can reuse independently
- Action steps or optional practice for continued improvement
Lessons are interactive and flexible, adjusting pace and focus based on the student’s progress.

What sets me apart is my ability to combine logical thinking with language learning. I’m especially effective at helping students who feel that English is “confusing” or unstructured—whether it’s academic writing, essay organization, or grammar rules. I emphasize clarity, precision, and critical thinking, skills I developed through my economics and statistics training and now apply to English instruction.
