About Shay

As a dedicated law student with over 10 years of experience tutoring primary school students, I bring both patience and structure to every lesson. My approach is centered on understanding each student's unique learning style and building a personalized study plan that targets their specific needs. I take the time to carefully monitor classwork and homework to identify areas where a student may be struggling. From there, I tailor lessons to strengthen those weak points and reinforce core concepts with clear explanations, practical exercises, and consistent review. My goal is not only to improve academic performance but also to help students gain confidence in their abilities and develop effective study habits that will benefit them long term. Professionalism and reliability are at the heart of my work. I come to each session fully prepared, respectful of your time, and committed to helping your child succeed in a supportive and structured environment. Whether your child needs help catching up, staying on track, or getting ahead, I’m here to guide them every step of the way.

About the lesson

My Method and Techniques

I use a mix of interactive methods including:

Guided reading to improve comprehension and vocabulary

Writing activities to develop sentence structure and expression

Positive reinforcement to keep students motivated and proud of their progress

I tailor lessons to each student’s interests and school curriculum so that learning feels meaningful and relevant.

️ A Typical Lesson Plan

Warm-up (5 min) – Fun word game or quick review of previous concepts

Main Lesson (25 min) – Focused on a specific skill (reading passage, grammar rule, or writing prompt)

Practice (15 min) – Hands-on exercises, discussion, or creative writing activity

Wrap-up (5 min) – Review key takeaways and assign a small, achievable task for next time

Each session is designed to keep students engaged, build consistency, and show measurable improvement.

What Sets Me Apart

My background in law has trained me to communicate complex ideas clearly and logically—skills I pass on to my students.

I make lessons fun, structured, and confidence-building, especially for students who struggle or feel shy about English.

I emphasize understanding over memorization, helping kids truly connect with what they read and write.

Who My Lessons Are For

These lessons are perfect for 1st-12th grade students who want to:

Improve reading comprehension and writing skills

Strengthen grammar and vocabulary

Build confidence in speaking and expressing ideas

Pass AP English classes

Strengthen essay writing skills
