About Kisha
My name is Kisha Khumalo, and I’m a passionate and dedicated History tutor with a strong academic background in the social sciences. I am currently studying towards a Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies at the University of Johannesburg, where I’ve gained valuable insight into historical, political, and social systems—both in South Africa and globally. I specialize in tutoring History for high school learners (Grades 10–12) and first-year university students. I understand that History can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially with so many events, timelines, and essay demands. My goal is to help you move beyond rote memorization and truly understand historical causes, consequences, and connections. I teach in both English and isiZulu, depending on your preference. As a History tutor, I use an engaging, analytical, and student-centered approach that helps learners go beyond memorizing dates and facts. I focus on developing critical thinking, historical interpretation, and essay-writing skills so that students can understand the why and how behind historical events—not just the what. What makes me unique is my ability to connect historical topics to real-life issues and current events, making the subject relevant and stimulating. I also incorporate timelines, visuals, and storytelling to make content more memorable.
Languages of Instruction
I am proficient in both English and isiZulu, and I offer History lessons in either language, depending on the student’s comfort level. This flexibility helps make complex historical content more accessible and relatable to a wider range of learners.
What to Expect from a Typical History Lesson
Each lesson includes:
