About Sophie

Hi, I'm Sophie, a second year student at Durham University studying Accounting and Finance. I have a passion for languages, and creative writing! I'd love to help build some confidence in students so they can see their true potential and achieve the best grades they can.

About the lesson

I get to know my students by guiding them through some sample questions during their first session, to see exactly what areas we need to focus on and where to start. I also take into consideration what the student thinks they're struggling in and monitor these areas carefully.

As sessions go on, I allow the student to become more independent in answering questions, e.g. If a student is struggling during the start, I'll guide them through questions and examples until they become more confident in the material, then I encourage them to try a few on their own, to see how well they understand the material.

I also help to ease some exam-anxiety by talking the student through tips and tricks which helped me greatly whilst doing exams. This helps a lot with their confidence, knowing what kinds of questions are likely to come up and how to tackle them.
