I have over 20 years of training and experience in education. My greatest joy is watching my students’ progress, not only academically, but in their confidence in themselves. I am personable. I am experienced tutor. I specialize in reading instruction, but I am also very effective as a math tutor. I have extensive experience with students with special needs, ranging from pre k- 8. I have specialized training with the Orton-Gillingham approach and a strong interest in reading instruction.
I believe strongly in the power of building early reading through building phonemic awareness, teaching through learning to encode and decode words. I believe the key to a student’s success is helping the student build confidence in themselves and incorporating ateam approach. This includes parents and other educators, as well as the student. I use a multi-sensory, sequential, structured approach, through cumulative knowledge and repetition.
I use a similar approach when teaching math. I focus on number sense and teaching basic math facts. I use a multi-sensory, hands on approach.
I am a very hardworking, organized and innovative tutor. I have experience working in the public school system, 1:1 in person tutoring and am familiar with several online platforms. Currently, I work from home either online or in person. I have experience working with all levels of academic progress, from students with special needs to advanced students. I will do my best to help build your student’s confidence.
