About Steven
My name is Steven, and I am an aspiring Electrical Engineering student with a strong passion for Mathematics and Physical Sciences. I have consistently worked to improve my own academic performance, particularly in Mathematics, where I was recognized for one of the most improved results in my grade. This experience allows me to understand both the challenges students face and the strategies needed to overcome them.
I take pride in being reliable, patient, and well-prepared for every lesson. I approach tutoring with professionalism and a genuine commitment to helping each student improve, not only in their marks but also in their confidence and understanding of the subject.
While I am at the beginning of my formal tutoring journey, I bring strong subject knowledge, clear communication skills, and a teaching approach that focuses on simplifying complex ideas. I believe that with the right explanation and guidance, every student is capable of improving.
Students can expect a supportive and focused learning environment where questions are encouraged and progress is taken seriously. My goal is to help each learner build a solid foundation, develop problem-solving skills, and achieve better results in their tests and exams.

My approach to tutoring is focused on understanding first, then performance. I don’t just show students how to get the answer, I break concepts down into simple, logical steps so they actually understand what they’re doing and can apply it in exams with confidence.
What makes me unique is that I teach from a student’s perspective. I’ve personally worked through challenges in subjects like Mathematics and Physical Sciences, so I know exactly where learners get stuck and how to explain those difficult concepts in a way that finally “clicks”.
I am able to teach in English clearly and effectively, and I can also assist students who are more comfortable with basic Afrikaans explanations where needed.
A typical lesson with me includes:
A quick review of previous work or problem areas
Step-by-step explanations of key concepts
Worked examples together
Practice questions with guidance
Exam tips and problem-solving techniques
I keep my lessons interactive and patient, encouraging students to ask questions and think for themselves instead of just memorising.
My lessons are aimed at high school students, especially those taking Mathematics, Physical Sciences, and Electrical-related subjects. I work well with students who are struggling and need a strong foundation, as well as those who want to improve their marks and perform better in tests and exams.
Overall, my goal is simple: to help students go from feeling confused to feeling confident.
