About Ikumi
Hello! My name is Ikumi, and I’m an English Communication graduate with several years of tutoring and customer service experience. Having studied detailed grammar and communication skills at university and lived abroad multiple times, I understand both the academic and practical sides of learning English. My lessons are designed to be clear, supportive, and personalized. I focus on helping students truly understand English rules while also learning to express themselves naturally and confidently. Each lesson begins with a short warm-up conversation, followed by focused practice on grammar, vocabulary, or pronunciation, depending on your goals. I always make sure students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. What makes my lessons unique is the balance between accuracy and real-life communication. I combine structured explanations with engaging conversation and real examples from daily life in Canada. Whether you are preparing for an exam, studying at school or university, or simply aiming to improve your fluency, I will guide you step by step toward your goals. As a tutor, I focus on creating lessons that are both structured and flexible to meet each student’s unique needs. My teaching methodology combines a strong foundation in grammar and writing with plenty of real-life speaking practice. I believe that understanding the “why” behind English rules helps learners build long-term confidence and fluency.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review and warm-up conversation, followed by a focus on one key topic—such as grammar, vocabulary, or pronunciation—explained with clear examples. We then practice through interactive exercises, short readings, or role plays, depending on the student’s goals. I always provide personalized feedback and easy-to-understand explanations.
What sets me apart is my background in English Communication studies, my experience supporting students preparing for exams, and my time living in Canada, which allows me to teach both academic and natural spoken English effectively.
My lessons are ideal for middle school to university students, exam takers, and adult learners who wish to strengthen their grammar, improve pronunciation, and feel more confident speaking English.
