Dear Students, As an experienced and certified tutor, my top priorities are your education and success. I hold a BS in Mathematics from State University and an MS in Education from Central College. I am fully licensed to teach mathematics and any fundamental course in biology, chemistry, and physics for grades 7-12 as well as the Freshman and Sophomore years in college. Over the past 10 years, I have helped hundreds of students improve their academic performance and confidence in math and science. My approach is based on research-backed methods to explain concepts in engaging, easy-to-understand ways. I develop customized lesson plans to meet your learning needs and goals. I make math and science fun! My student-centered approach focuses on truly understanding concepts through interactive models, experiments, and discussions. Lessons involve thought-provoking questions, collaborative problem-solving, and hands-on activities using everyday materials.
A typical 60-minute session starts by assessing your level and learning goals. Next, we dive into the topic with a short video or animation to build foundational knowledge. Then we tackle example problems together, using models to visualize abstract ideas. I guide you to develop critical thinking skills and draw connections between concepts. Sessions end by summarizing key takeaways and setting goals for next time.
What sets me apart is my ability to break down complex ideas into understandable chunks. I draw on 8 years of tutoring experience to explain concepts in multiple ways.
