About Florencia

Hi! I am Florencia and I currently study Chemistry and Economics at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. I am originally from the Netherlands but have lived all over the work including South Africa, Luxembourg and Singapore. Outside of academics, I really enjoy playing tennis and reading (I am currently reading the Intelligent Investor).

I completed my GCSE's 3 years ago, and finished IB in May of 2023 - so I completely understand the stress any of you are going through! At GCSE's I completed Economics, Co-ordianted Science, Maths, Additional Maths, English, Spanish and History (all A*s). At IB I completed Higher Level Chemistry, Biology and Economics and Standard Level Maths AA, English Language and Literature and Spanish B. I also received three additional points for TOK and my EE (Total points 43).

Because of this experience I know exactly what approach to take to tackle your studying and have all the resources and notes so that you can go into exams with full confidence. Even though I specialise in Chemistry, Maths and Economics I am more than willing to help in any other subjects (just send me a message!).

Since I can remember I have loved STEM, in particular chemistry and the application of maths in the subject. I truly believe that if you enjoy a subject the problems become much more approachable and fun to tackle - this is my goal in tutoring you!

I am a patient and reliable teacher and am more than willing to provide guidance outside of lesson times if you have any problems you are not able to solve (send them to me any time!).

About the lesson

Having gone through IB and IGCSE's myself - and having achieved high scores of 43 in IB and all A*s in IGCSEs - I know all the right ways and techniques to reaching your highest potential.

My tutoring style has a big focus on developing weaker areas through practice, practice and practice! I have always looked at problems in maths and chemistry as a puzzel which can be tackled using a tool-kit of knowledge and skills. I focus on developing these core skills which can be applied to any problem you may come across in your exams - with confidence!

Below are my core focusses in my lessons:

Organised: Structured sessions with clear objectives to maximise learning efficiency.

Goal-Focused Approach: Setting and achieving specific academic goals to track progress.

Personalised Support: Targeting weaker areas to build a strong foundation and boost confidence.

Before each lesson I ask that you let me know what you want to cover in the lesson so that I can prepare the right materials and practice questions so that you can master your skills!

I studied at a top school in Singapore, providing me with a high-quality educational background. Originally from the Netherlands, I bring a diverse perspective to the tutoring experience. I founded and run "Affinity," a science platform and YouTube channel with over 7,000 views, where I offer science explanations. Additionally, I have extensive tutoring experience from my school, where I successfully helped students achieve their academic goals.

Together, we'll achieve academic excellence through structured lessons, targeted practice, and a supportive learning environment.
