About Madeline

Hello! My name is Madeline Ellis, and my job is to help students become confident in school.

Students can call me Miss Madeline or Miss Ellis :)

Here are some things to know about me as a tutor:

- I teach English and Reading skills to students
- I've been working with kiddos for four years!
- I attend college classes at Clark College
- I love to make art and listen to music in my free time.
-My priority is to give you a safe space to learn and ask questions!
-In sessions, we will go at your pace. We'll practice together until you feel totally confident!

Students can expect me to help them become passionate about their subject and make learning fun again!

About the lesson

Teaching methods and techniques-

1. Multi-modal teaching: Adapting the learning structure to student's specific learning style
2. Active engagement and clear instructions: Prompts communication skills and personal development
3. Creativity and naturalism: Seeks to apply natural learning experiences through creativity and "real-world" examples. Communication Language Teaching (CLT) and Task-Based Learning (TBL).
4. Goal progress and reinforcement: Goals tailored to student's progress through measurable data. Clear reinforcement and celebration of student work within reading comprehension, phonetics, spelling, grammar, vocabulary expansion, verbal fluency, functional English, active listening skills, and overall behavior.

Typical lesson plan:
Duration: 60 minutes

1. Welcome/check-in
2. Review progress and last session
3. Instruction
4. Practice together
5. Practice independently
6. Review and plan for next session

Who are my lessons for?:

My tutoring services are for students and children from elementary to high school. Grades K-12

What sets me apart from other tutors?

As a Registered Behavioral Interventionist for four years and a Paraprofessional and Teaching Assistant for three, I have the vital knowledge and experience to help your child grow exponentially in their school career. By promoting independence in literary and English skills, my goal is to help your child not just pass in their subject, but to master it. Application of public school curriculum such as U-FLI and as outlined in WA ELA 2026 learning standards can be expected. Fostering kindness and providing student-support services is a priority as I believe every child has the right to a successful academic future. My 1:1 work with students has proven my high success rate in academic and social impact. For instance, after working with a 4th grader for just two short weeks, we were able to boost his grade from a C to a B+. I observed the student was highly skilled in the subject, but lacked the in-school support he needed. Given a safe space to ask questions and practice his spelling skills, this student improved greatly and stopped needing my services.
