About Rosemerry

Through my tutoring and teaching, I have been able to help many children with reading challenges make gains in reading and reading comprehension. I have also created free materials for parents on my website. These materials served to support parents in their efforts to help their children.

I have over 25 years of teaching and tutoring experience. I have been able to help children meet and exceed their reading goals and plan to continue making a difference in the lives of young children.

It is a thrill to see children increase in their reading ability. I love knowing that I am instrumental in opening children up to the world of reading. It is a joy to see eyes light up as each child reads a new book. That is something that I truly enjoy.

I started teaching when my children were young. The teaching bug is in my genes as my mother, grandmother and great grandmother taught school and even started a school in South Carolina. My teaching experience has taken me from private to public schools and from large classroom to small pull out groups.

I am a licensed k-6 teacher and have over 25 years of teaching experience. This has allowed me to help a wide variety of children make progress in reading.

My experience in the classroom has helped me to grow in my ability to connect with students on an informal level. I also understand how to connect with students in order to motivate them academicaly. This has helped me nurture the gifts in students.

About the lesson

After a free consultation and assessment, the parent and I talk over what the student needs are and what we need to focus on. I take some of the time during the free consultation to introduce Zoom and its features so the student is comfortable with the platform.

An aspect of the initial working process is getting to know the student.

I spend time becoming familiar with the student's strengths and interests. I also give the student a chance to get to know me and my teaching style.

I have worked the student in need of extra support as well as the gifted student. I have also worked with students with dyslexia as well as autistic students. Many students have issues that are typical of delayed development and require consistent instruction and practice.

I would advise the student to ask the tutor what materials they use and how many children they have been able to help. Students should also ask if they tutor is willing to connect with the teacher to what incites the teacher has.

This helps the tutor focus on specific areas of need. I would also ask about payment and cancellation policy. These will help with expectations.

I take great joy in reflecting upon the achievement I have seen in a young girl that is dyslexic with a low IQ make reading gains this year. She has grown and gained so much confidence. This is my joy!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think about how their lives will be different after they have achieved a specific goal with a teacher. They should also think about what will happen if they don't make progress in this area. They should also think about how much better they will feel if they are able to read better as well as comprehend what they are reading.

Details

I charge $30 per session. For children under 8 years old. My sessions last between 25 and 30 minutes long. I work with older students for about 50 minutes a session.

For those parents interested in a 50 minute session I charge $50.
