About McKenzie

I graduated in May of 2019 with my dual major degree in Elementary education. Education has always been a passion of mine and I found myself loving the amount of diversity it has brought to my life. While in college I substitute taught at a trade school for adolescents. Shortly after receiving this position I also became the group mentor for the trade school which consisted of planning activities and educating groups on different life skills. I currently nanny for a three year old and twin one year olds until 2pm M-F. I offer care services as needed in my free time as well and am open to tutoring as needed. If I seem like a suitable fit please contact me with further details as you deem necessary.

I started volunteering as an assistant in high school at the local head start program for two years before going to college for my education degree in early childhood/childhood education.

I have worked at a trade school for three years as a group mentor, life skills advisor, and academic instructor.

After obtaining my bachelors degree in Education, I spent my first year as an educator in a private bilingual school in South America for those in Grades 6-8th.

After returning to the US, I received a Head Start lead teacher position.

I decided to change my path and work as a private child care provider and tutor since.

About the lesson

I usually have a video interview with the student and guardian in their lives to begin an informal assessment and allow any questions to be asked before we begin tutoring.

I have worked with those 16-24 in academic as well as life skills settings. I have training working with those who struggle with spectrum abilities.

I have background working with children ages 3-16 in public school settings.

Private child care consists of academics, behavioral modification, executive functioning skills, ESL, and speech (this is not age limited).

Talk to them first and see if you can be comfortable around this person. The best learning comes from being able to ask questions and feel confident in yourself even when you do not do something correctly the first time. A teacher should motivate you to want to do your best!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Have you tried your best to solve the question ? Have you tried to look at the question differently ? If so, ask the teacher for some tips!

Very passionate and organized. She actually teaches my kids and not just watch the time for her shift to be over. My kids know to articulate their thoughts in words and have a decent conversation now. Her hard work is shown with how fast my kids have progressed

If I can have her again… I would. She’s been so helpful, VERY patient with me and makes me feel like it’s okay to take my time… and I comprehend everything when she breaks it down for me.
