About Taylor

I am offering in home tutoring, or small group learning pods as a way to ease parents who are transitioning their children to virtual learning, amongst the presence of this global pandemic.

I am passionate about communal engagement, early education, and special education. My goal is to provide affordable in home services to any parent or child struggling to adjust to this new way of learning.

The ability to make a positive impact on my community, by broadening a young students horizon.

I started teaching through my love of community. I was seeking non profit employment when I was hired on as a Site Coordinator for The Children's Literacy Center.

I am currently working on my certified tutor licensing, as I had never considered private tutoring until this pandemic forced public schools to close. I have CPI and RBT training, as well as first aid, however those more correlate with crisis intervention and autism learning services.

I ran the Teller County Children's Literacy Center for 2 consecutive years, working to build a future of literacy, one book at a time. I have 1 year experience as a one to one paraprofessional with inner city kids, displaying behavior issues. 1 year experience working for a Boces, which helps special needs kids transcending from highschool, to life after, as independently as possible.

About the lesson

Prior to first session, I like to meet with parents and learn about their situation, and childs needs. First session with the students are typically more about getting to know each other. For younger kids, I have a fun "get to know me" packet where kids can answer questions about their favorite hobbies, colors, etc. This is also a time where the student can self advocate their needs and interests in terms of learning, and to familiarize me with their individualized curriculum. For older kids, I like to start with a lesson that involves art and math, to gauge which side of their brain they're keen on using.

Early education, middle school, highschool, young adults.

I would tell them that in terms of a one to one learning environment, a keen personal connection/understanding is highly important.

Seeing my transitions program students graduate last year. It wasn't a typical graduation with covid19 just hitting, but they were still so proud. As was I.
