About Jayleen

Hello! My name is Jayleen Salas, and I have a Bachelors degree in Hispanic Studies and Global Studies with a concentration in International Affairs and Peace Corp Prep.

I have experience teaching English to ESL/ELL individuals (mainly spanish speaking adults). I have also volunteered in a kindergarten class for a school year and have facilitated lessons/field trips for school aged children in elementary/middle school level science/technology.

I believe in tailoring teaching approaches to the way in which the student learns best. It is important to me that students feel confident in their abilities, and to find different ways to teach so that folks understand that it is not their ability to learn or their own deficit which interrupts comprehension, but rather the way in which it is explained.

I look forward to helping foster knowledge and building the confidence and self esteem in students so they may pursue all their goals and dreams!

I have worked with ESL/ELL individuals (primaryily spanish speaking adults), tutoring english. I have also spent time in a kindergarten classroom tutoring, as well as facilitating field trips and lessons in technology/science related studies.

I have a Bachelors degree in Hispanic Studies and Global Studies, with a concentration in International Affairs.

About the lesson

I like to ask the students how they learn best; are they visual or auditory learners? I also like to address their current areas of confusion. I find this part valuable because it allows us to focus on their struggles, promoting efficient learning.

As mentioned before, I have worked with ESL/ELL adults, and elementary and middle school aged children.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I encourage students to think about the ways they learn best!

Sometimes the concept does not click for a student becuase of the way the information is presented, not due to a deficit of the student themself.

I would also advise that students think about what about the concept/subject they do not understand. Are they confused about a vocbulary term, or maybe a step in the process, or if they need the whole concept explained beginning to end?
