About Farrah
Hello Everyone! My name is Farrah and I am a recent college graduate from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
I have my Bachelors of Arts in intensive literature with a concentration in world and global studies as well as sociology. I also have a four year background in creative writing as well as journalism. Additionally, I have been tutoring K through 12 Literature for approximately nine years.
During my time at college, I was the editor for my university's newspaper of record for about two and a half years and tutored my peers through copy and content editing their essays.
I am able to assist in any and all types of essay or literary writing. Whether it is brainstorming and working through the prompts of college application essays, learning how to perfect grammar and syntax structure, or intensive editing and critical feedback.
My favorite thing about tutoring is seeing the academic as well as emotional growth in the individuals I am helping.
Writing is perceived to be an intimidating part of academia. Most people go into it with the perception that you either are great or horrible, leaving no room for the in between. I truly and wholeheartedly believe anyone can write. If you have the ability to communicate, you are able to tell a compelling story.
My most memorable tutoring and editing accomplishments are as follows:
Tutoring an international student in UCSC's Writing 2 program, boosting them from a C-average to an A-average.
Editing my friend's psychology thesis—garnering her multiple awards and a special acknowledgement at graduation.
Content and Line editing my sister's Undergraduate College Admissions essays, landing her a spot at UCLA.
Content and Line editing the same sister's Graduate College Admissions essays, landing her a spot at University of Washington's Master Program.
Furnishing and developing a student's undergraduate college admission essays through a step by step prompt analysis and bi-weekly discussion, landing him a spot at Georgia Institute of Technology.

My typical process for working with new students is to get a feel of their current skill level. For example, if I am working with an individual who needs general tutoring to boost their grade, I would simply ask for their past assignments and begin going through areas in which they can improve in the future.
Additionally, if I am helping a student with college admission essays, I would go through each prompt and have an honest conversation about which ones relate to them. The goal is to find a prompt that the student can relate their life experiences.
I believe all writing is simply a form of talking/speaking with a little analysis mixed in. To be a proficient writer—you do not need to tell an elaborate story—you simply need to be true and honest with yourself. This is the trait that a majority of college admissions are looking for.

Farrah is an excellent essay editor. She helped me edit my grad school essays. She is very experienced with tutoring students and helping them write amazing papers!
Amazing Experience, she really helped me break down and analyze all of my essay prompts. Working with her boosted my average in the course from a D to a B.
I really love that she takes the time and talks with you through an essay. She asks questions when I am struggling on my essays that would help me formulate what I ams trying to say. She’s so nice and patient with me and I really appreciate her time and help!
Very thorough and diligent. Makes great suggestions!
