About Erin

I am enthusiastic about what I do and I love to share that with the people I tutor.

I like to see the cogs working in my students head as all the pieces come to together. As I typically tutor essay writing or grammar it sometimes takes a minute for all of the individual pieces to click--but it is so much fun when it does!

I have a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics and six years of tutoring experiences.

About the lesson

My first step is to understand where the student is coming from, how they think and where they are struggling. From there, I introduce ideas in a way that will resonant most with the student.

Who haven't I worked with! I have been a tutor for a long while and have worked with a myriad of different students. Whether they're interested, confused, excited, nervous, or hating where they are, I have always been able to work with my students and meet them where they're at.

Find someone who thinks like you do. Essay writing and grammar can be big, abstract concepts, which requires them to be explained in a masterful way that suits the students.

I was recently teaching French to a student who was struggling with the accent. She was nervous and was focusing too hard on the words. In order to get her to loosen up, we listened to "Be our guest" from Beauty in the Beast. We then spent the rest of the lesson speaking in English with French accents based on the scene. It was fun and took the seriousness out of the situation. By the end of the lesson she was more open to the French accent in French, even if it was in a silly way at first.

If the student is needs continious lessons, then I charge $30 an hour.

If the student has a specific assignment or concept that needs to be learned, I will charge a flat fee depending on the project at hand.
