About Brent David

I carry a deep passion for the English language and discovering and applying the highest, best power of your words to strengthen your effectiveness in all areas of life through comprehension and creativity.

My greatest reward is seeing your "light come on", your capabilities become known to you with confidence. For those who are unsure, lack confidence or think your lack is intelligence, my helping to uncover your true skills and talents yet unknown, and watching your insecurities be erased by your better understanding of how your mind, goals & achievements align, to approach all material with self assured new tools.

I recognized in the work I did alongside others in various fields that I had a palpable advantage due to the simple privilege of my upbringing with a mother who was first an English teacher, a school district curriculum coordinator and a PhD in Education and Educational reform. The fact that my life from as early as I could speak was inherently focused on generating abilities that I carried into all my career work, creative and technical, that I could see many of my colleagues and coworkers didn't have, and it felt quite natural to me to do as my mother did her whole career; give the gift of that learning to others, see and be a part of others' growth and that's the blessing being a tutor to others has given to my life.

Life under and educator's guidance, mother was first an English teacher, then Seattle School District Curriculum Coordinator under John Stanford, and a PhD in Education and Educational reform. My life from as early as I could speak was focused on words, the use of language, literature, poetry, and writing that I carried into my career work as an actor, songwriter, poet, legal writer, screenwriter, novel writer, copywriter, content creator, press liaison and tutor to others.

About the lesson

Assess what the challenges are in the student and in the material; lack of experience, where to put focus first, time constraints and level of difficulty in material and where to concentrate the steps to getting a confident grasp.

Actors, songwriters, kids and adults, screenwriters, novelists, poets, technical writers, office assistants and execs, the grammar and vocabulary challenged, and some whose native language was not English.

Be clear and honest with yourself about your strengths and shortcomings and be willing to put that forward without self judgement so that the right teacher can respond authentically to what you present authentically.

I helped a girl who wanted to write a poem for her family about her recently deceased grandmother, through the use of studying female poets whose work was relatable and simple ways to use writing guides to help find an original voice in herself. The poem came through very well and impacted her family positively.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Questions should pertain first to the primary purpose of finding a teacher. Backing that may be questions about ancillary desires the student has, to grow and strengthen abilities for life's pertinent language, reading and writing challenges generally.

Details

I maintain a $40 per hour rate, more to travel substantial distance. In all, there will be times of seeming ease and times of seeming difficulty, inclusive of a rewarding routine being established and fortified with increasing skill.
