About Katherine

I have a background in teaching English to second language learners, as well as Special Education. I teach Executive Functioning strategies as well as strategies to improve English, writing, and reading. I have taught abroad as well as in Public and Private schools. My services are multifaceted because of working with International students as well as students and adults with Learning Disabilities.

I enjoy seeing people have that "aha" moment when something that has been challenging for them in the past is realized.

I have always wanted to be a teacher, however, when I was working in the inner-city schools of NYC I saw an increasing need for Special Education teachers.

I have a Masters in Special Education as well as I have taught in SE Asia for a few years. My undergraduate degree is in Art Therapy.

About the lesson

I first assess where the student is at (look at a writing sample, have them read out loud, read an evaluation if the student has one or have them take an Executive Function assessment).

ESL, Non-verbal students, Language-based learning disabilities, Social COmmunication disorders, Autism spectrum, etc. I have worked with Nursery aged students all the way through to adults.

For English Language only I typically price $75/hour. For students with Learning Disabilities where I am reading their evaluations and helping them create study strategies, I typically charge $100.
