About Micalah

My name is Micalah. I have self-published two novels, spent a year tutoring a small classroom, and made it to my junior year of college with a 4.0 GPA. And I want to help you gain mastery of the English language. Whether you struggle with grammar, punctuation, or writing essays, I've got you covered.

I love helping people understand things. Today's education system values test scores over concept mastery. Not me! Call me oldschool, but I think there's nothing better than genuinely understanding a topic and being able to apply it in everyday life.

I have an associate's degree in General Studies and am currently attending Southeastern Oklahoma State University to earn my bachelor's degree in English. I also spent two semesters and a summer working with a nonprofit after-school tutoring organization.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, I'll first spend a few minutes helping them get comfortable and making sure I know what they need to learn. Then, I'll explain the problem topic and give them some examples. Finally, I'll watch them work a few problems on their own to make sure they've got the topic down.

I've worked with middle- and high-school students. Some of them speak English as a second language, and one of them didn't speak English at all!

Find a teacher who knows multiple ways of solving problems, or at least knows how to explain things in multiple ways. Something that works for you might not work for someone else. A good English teacher won't rest until their students understand the topics at hand.

I took my dog on a walk through an empty field. It was barely spring; there were no insects to annoy us yet, but the air was warm and the breeze was playful and cool. I wanted to see if the yarrow was sprouting yet, and it was! I plucked three of the feathery leaves and took them home with me.
