About David
The parts of the job that excites me and makes me feel satisfied is when a students' internal motivation/ light switch is turned on by the student when it comes to learning.
As a teacher, tutor, coach and mentor, I can provided some external motivation, however, I have learned that when a student is able to bring to each session their own internal motivation, then learnind, no matter what it is, has more value and sticks with a student longer.

My process when working with a new student is to first establish a relationship. This is usually done by finding some common ground of interest so that the student sees me as a person, not as a tutor.
After a relationship is established, I like to work on mutal respect within the working relationship. I am a firm believer that respect is something that is not taken, but rather it is earned - by giving it.
And then I like to work with a student to understand their particular motivation and approach when it comes to work, and not just school work. Understanding a students' work ethic will help when it comes to working on school materials.
