About Cade

My service is focused on learning the conceptual ideas first before we get into problem-solving. By ensuring that you know why we are doing what we are doing, it allows you to have much greater flexibility when running into difficult problems. Also, I am great at being able to identify where many people are tripped up in math problems, so I know what we will need to focus on.

I am currently studying biomedical engineering at George Washington University (which includes a lot of math), and I know I will be a great tutor for you since I can often tell where a lot of people will trip up on mathematical concepts.

I enjoy being able to see people have those lightbulb moments where the conceptual ideas and solutions are able to pop into their heads. Also, I think it feels great to be able to help someone with something they may feel is their weakness, because everyone has different strengths.

Since I am studying to be an engineer, I have lots of friends and former classmates (including high school and college) that have asked me for my help with their math homework. I realized that I was generally able to help them better understand the concepts that they were struggling with, and this let me know that I could start to teach people that I did not directly know.

I am currently pursuing a degree in biomedical engineering, which requires me to have a high-level of math aptitude in order to succeed. Additionally, I have maintained a high GPA throughout both highschool (4.0 cumulative unweighted) and college (3.92 cumulative unweighted), with good grades in all taken math courses.

Typically, I would want to first go over what they think about math overall as a subject, since difficulty can often to lead to a disliking of math. It is important to stress how although math is hard, it is a subject that we have a lot of use for, despite technology being able to do a lot of quick calculations for us.

After figuring out what their general perceptions are, it is important to find out what they are currently struggling in and set a goal for them to overcome it, so that we can measure progress over time.

I generally work with students my age, since these are the people that know me and ask for help. However, I have tons of experience with children as well from other jobs (like being a summer camp counselor), so I would be able to help them as well.

I would say that you should pick someone that is best able to conceptualize themselves being in your situation rather than someone who can only conceptualize the mathematical concepts. It is important that they especially know where most people can make mistakes, which is a part of the learning process and should not be discouraged.

It is amazing how everything we take for granted becomes so much more apparent after we must practice social distancing. I recently took a stroll down the river walk in downtown Chicago, and the beauty of the city hit me like it has never done before.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
It is important to discuss your strengths and weaknesses as a student, because not everyone is perfect (including me). We can work together on what you think your weaknesses are by taking advantage of your strengths, and it allows us to know where more help may be needed to promote your success.

I believe that it is important to offer fair pricing for my level of experience, so I price myself at a lower pricing point than my competitors (currently $20/session). However, this does not mean that I do not try as hard to ensure that you will leave my lessons feeling just as good, if not better, than any other math tutors available.
