About Shiva

Hello everyone, my name is Shiva! :-)

I am 25 years old and am a credentialed Multiple Subjects (Elementary) Teacher. I graduated from Cal State Fullerton in 2018 with a Bachelors in Psychology. From there, I obtained my teaching credential from Brandman University. Upon graduating, I spent my first year teaching in a Kindergarten classroom filled with 29 little ones in Valencia, CA. (Yes, you read that correctly!).

Since the pandemic, I realize that there is a high need for private tutors. Many parents still have their own lives to run, and are not able to spend much time on working with their kids on their schoolwork. My mission is to alleviate that extra stressor for you, and give your child the academic attention that he or she needs.

I believe that by working one-on-one with your child, I can understand what his or her specific needs are, and ultimately cater to that learning style. Just like us, children learn in different formats. Some are visual learners, some are auditory, some are kinesthetic, and the list goes on and on. I will find out how he or she learns best, and maximize our time together by working with those needs.

Let me know if you have any additional questions or comments. I provide quick responses, and am easy to reach.

My year of teaching was filled with valuable experience in that it allowed me to form and establish my teaching philosophy. I believe that ALL children are capable of achieving academic success. My job is to help them understand the material, while simultaneously boosting their self-esteem and confidence. I try to make learning as fun as possible, so that children find joy in learning new things.

I received a Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential, which specializes in Elementary Education. I have spent years in classrooms, working as a substitute teacher, student teacher, and a volunteer. I most recently spent a year teaching in my own Kindergarten classroom. Because of the circumstances of the pandemic, I am now working with individual families, and that has allowed me to keep students accountable in their learning.

Typically, I like to begin with a consultation with the child's parent(s), which involves discussing what they would like for me to specifically work on with their child. I do not like to jump into the tutoring without this piece in place, because I find that it helps with maximizing our time together.
