About Kimberly

I have been a professor since 2005, teaching communications (public speaking, writing, media literacy, etc.) and Algebra. I am currently Lead Faculty Area Chair for the Houston Campuses of University of Phoenix, where I have been a professor since 2005 and lead Faculty for 8 years. I love to teach and have always received many accolades from.my students as well as my peers. I guess what makes me.different is the fact that I really get to know.my students so I can most effectively get the information they need to them. For example, I had one student who was having problems with percentages. She told me she just never understood them. I knew she liked to shop, so I said "alright, if I have a coat that is one hundred dollars and it is on sale for 20% off, how much will you pay for that coat before taxes?" The student got it and was able to put a practical application from her life with the information so it made sense. I am great at finding ways to help students understand how what they are learning is applicable to them.
