About Yara

Tutoring at the college level has helped me developed the set of skills needed to identify problem areas and create the most effective plans to solve them. I aim to make learning enjoyable and fulfilling! :D

I enjoy working with my tutees to make observable progress towards their goals as they become more independent in their learning.

I started teaching by volunteering to help elementary school students with Math when I first started college. I really enjoyed it and took it a step further by teaching college students to supplement their learning.

I have a B.S. in Biology and Neuroscience. I also have extensive experience teaching Maths and Calculus. Furthermore, I have worked in multiple peer educator roles at the University of Cincinnati Learning Commons, including as a peer tutor, Supplemental Instructor, and Supplemental Review Session Leader.

About the lesson

The first step is to identify what the student feels they need to work on or what areas/topics they have trouble with. This can then be used to make a plan of how to best tackle the content to maximize student understanding.

I have worked with students in elementary school, in high school, and in college.

I would advise them to look for a tutor that wouldn't only teach you the material, but would also help you develop your own independing learning skills!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
It might help you to think about what areas/topics of a subject you find most confusion, or which ones make you anxious. You can also think back to the last time things made sense in your class. Sometimes, re-tracing your steps through a course and covering confusion material is all you need to do to get back on top of things :D

Perfect! It was my first online tutoring in my life, and Yara was such a wonderful tutor! I was failing the Business Calculus class that I was taking, but my grades improved a lot after I had tutoring sessions with Yara. She is very kind and teaches difficult problems step by step so that it can be easily understood. I highly recommend her. She is the best tutor.

Yara was my mentor throughout the Student Government Mentorship Program. She was very knowledgeable with Student Government and she helped develop me as a leader on campus and throughout Student Government. I learned a lot from her mentorship and I was able to pass this information along to my peers and bring it to the table of the committee I joined the following semester. I highly recommend Yara as a tutor she has great communication skills, and she gets the job done!
