About George

Most private math tutors are high school or college-age students who have limited knowledge and experience. Most offer help with homework and review for upcoming tests. What they don’t have is the means or materials for addressing the foundational issues behind why students are actually struggling in Math. Instead of truly improving, students wind up getting stuck in an endless cycle of trying to catch up with the material covered in class.

My 20+ years of knowledge and experience tutoring literally hundreds of students in Math has provided me with a deep understanding of the most effective ways of teaching Math so my students retain the knowledge while actually enjoying the learning process.

I will pinpoint the exact reasons why your child is struggling, and implement the right strategies and materials to treat them!

Instead of simply attempting to "treat the symptoms," I determine exactly the root cause of what's causing your child to struggle in Math and immediately address these issues.

I will provide your child with a strong foundation and deep understanding of Math while providing a fun and stress-free learning experience!

By covering and reviewing both foundational math skills and current coursework, my students balance the important work of catching up while acquiring the necessary foundational knowledge that will be the building blocks of their thorough understanding of the subject.

I enjoy seeing my students succeed while they build their confidence and self-esteem as they realize that they are completely capable of learning math and understanding it on a deeper level. I also enjoy teaching them the importance of financial literacy which I believe is a crucial skill that most students today are lacking since most are not being exposed to this knowledge in school. Understanding such concepts as investing, budgeting, and analyzing your personal finances is crucial for success in our personal and professional lives!

In my mid-twenties, I decided that a career in teaching was my calling. I began working with students as a volunteer at a local middle school and was placed in the 6th-grade classroom of a Reading teacher where I assisted her by working one-on-one with many of her students. That school eventually hired me as a part-time teacher's assistant after the Reading teacher recommended me to her principal The school's administration told me how truly impressed they were with my work ethic and dedication. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, the middle school was unable to keep me employed for more than six months. However, I was soon able to find employment at another local public school a few months later. That elementary school was looking for a teacher's assistant to help with students that were at risk of not passing math. I taught at that elementary school for 8 years when once again the public school system was affected by drastic budget cuts (a few weeks before the 2008 financial crisis)! However, I did not let that stop me, and I was eventually rehired once again into the public school system, this time at another elementary school where I worked for an additional 6 years teaching Reading Comprehension to at-risk students. After more than 16 years of teaching students in public schools, I decided to fully dedicate my time to teaching students as a private tutor with my own tutoring business!

I have a bachelor's degree in International Relations from Florida International University in Miami, Florida. I taught elementary and middle school students for 15 years while employed at Miami-Dade Public Schools. Over the course of the last 22 years, I have also privately tutored hundreds of students, mostly in-person, but also online (via Zoom Video).

I have taught Mathematics, Reading Comprehension, and various other subjects to elementary, middle, and high school students for over 20 years, both in the public school system and as a private tutor.
