About Adam

Hi, my name is Adam McDonagh. I went to St. Joseph’s College “The Bish” in Galway from 2018 to 2023 and then went on to study biomedical science at the University of Leeds in 2024. Since 2025, I’ve been studying dentistry at the University of Manchester, which has deepened my passion for education and my interest in staying up to date with the latest research. I’ve been tutoring for over three years now and have supported more than 30 students across different platforms, helping them with maths and other subjects. During university terms, I offer grinds via Zoom, and when I’m back home in Ireland, I like to teach in person, because I find face‑to‑face sessions really help students engage with the material. Outside of tutoring, I work as a rowing coach for students at a local college in Ireland, which has taught me how important it is to move at the student’s pace and to adapt my approach to their learning style. I believe a thorough, patient foundation works best when tackling new topics or teaching new skills. I’m really excited about teaching and I’m always eager to meet new students, understand their goals, and help them build confidence and understanding in their subjects.

About the lesson

I offer 1:1 in‑person or online grinds to help students move past any confusion and achieve a higher grade in their exams. All lessons are exam‑focused and tailored to your needs, whether that’s past‑paper practice or revising specific topics.

Each session costs €50 and follows a clear structure: I make sure everything is fully understood, we outline a plan for the next lesson, and I answer any remaining questions before you leave. I go above and beyond for my students and will do my best to support you in any way I can.

The first lesson is an introduction where we’ll talk about what you’ve struggled with in maths, I’ll show you how I use online whiteboards, make sure you understand the lesson structure and approach. You can ask any questions you have too and we’ll have an open discussion about your maths.

Outside of the 1-hour lesson, I often send forward revision sources and any additional help I can. Even preparing sample tests to go through on the day. I also correct tests with the student, it’s genuinely the best way of achieving a higher grade.

I do not do a free first lesson. However, more than happy to call to answer any questions you may have
