About Demi

I am a friendly, reliable and highly experienced tutor who has taught students ages 5-17 at an “Explore Learning” tuition centre for two years and am looking to expand and support students online too

I achieved a grade 9 (A**) in all my GCSE subjects, including Maths, English, Biology and Chemistry in 2021. I recently achieved 3 A*s in my A-level exams in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology in 2023 and am looking to share my wealth of knowledge and expertise with any students looking for extra support in their studies. Having completed my exams so recently means I can offer in-depth insights and give students helpful strategies for exam day success.

While I studied AQA Biology and Psychology and OCR Chemistry, I am confidently able to cater to all exam boards and help students to realise their love for learning by adjusting my teaching style and pace based on the student’s individual needs closely aligned with the examination specification. This often includes breaking down concepts into simpler, more manageable chunks that build on existing knowledge.

About the lesson

In my tutoring, I encourage students in a positive manner to reach their full potential and explain difficult ideas in a way that is clear, engaging and personalised for each of my students. I believe that making the subject accessible and interesting to students is key to helping them to succeed. I am constantly committed to promoting progress and increasing their confidence in learning, meaning my lessons have a lasting impact on all students.

A typical session will be planned using a range of resources and teaching methods to engage students and create a fun and patient learning environment. This allows me to identify the student’s end goals, as well as their strengths and weaknesses within their learning as i take time to get to know them better. I would start off the lesson by introducing the topic alongside key learning objectives, moving onto covering the theory of the topic including all relevant information and beyond, depending on the student’s ability. Then, I like to use various challenges to consolidate learning and revision including completing exam style questions and drawing and labelling diagrams until the student feels comfortable enough doing these on their own. Following this, I like to recap and review the key points covered in the session, asking the students questions about their understanding and allow them to ask me final questions and concerns. I would then go ahead and summarise the lesson objectives and encourage the student to review the material covered at their own pace. The last 10 minutes of the session would include any homework such as reading a relevant chapter in their textbook or an online resource and writing a report on it, watching a video and taking notes, completing a worksheet or quiz provided by me. I prefer for these to be submitted to allow written and oral feedback to help with test preparation and make sure students master material content.
