About Ayan

I am currently pursuing a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering with a specialization in Petroleum Engineering at the University of Calgary. Mathematics has always been a subject close to my heart, and my fascination with its various fields continues to grow. I firmly believe that knowledge multiplies when shared, and this belief has fueled my passion for teaching. My teaching methodology is distinct from conventional approaches. Instead of pushing students to arrive at the "right" answer, I focus on helping them understand the logical steps required to solve a problem. I emphasize relating mathematical concepts to real-world scenarios, making the subject more engaging and relevant for students. This approach not only builds interest but also enhances comprehension and problem-solving skills. My journey in teaching began with a three-month internship in India, where I taught mathematics to students from grades 5 to 10. This experience allowed me to refine my teaching skills and connect with students on a deeper level. Beyond technical expertise, I strive to treat every student with equal respect and care, ensuring they receive my best efforts and attention. My ultimate goal is to inspire confidence and help students realize their full potential in mathematics. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from VIT Vellore, one of India’s premier institutions. This academic foundation has provided me with a strong analytical mindset, which I bring into my teaching. Outside of academics, I enjoy singing and listening to retro Bollywood songs. Video games are another favorite pastime, offering a fun way to unwind and recharge. Teaching, for me, is more than a profession—it’s a calling. I am excited to connect with passionate students who share a love for mathematics and are eager to explore its wonders. Together, let’s unlock the doors to mathematical brilliance and embark on a journey of learning, growth, and success.

About the lesson

I am not someone who makes students get the correct answer without understanding the steps. As a tutor, I make sure that my student should know how to approach a particular question. I believe that the student should know why a particular step is taken in each and every step of the solution. For example, if my student says that 2 times 3 is 6, then I try my best to explain to him/her how this becomes possible. My teaching methodology helps the student to solve a diverse level of questions, starting from beginners to advanced level. I can give lessons in Mathematics till grade 12.

Perfect! Ayan was extremely helpful when my son needed help with preparing for a unit test as he missed a few classes due to illness. Ayan is a very kind and patient tutor and my son felt very comfortable working him. He did quite well in that unit test…thanks to Ayan! Highly recommended.
