About Sam

I’m Sam, a friendly and committed tutor with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Loughborough University. I've been a private tutor for the past 5 years and I’ve always enjoyed breaking down tricky ideas and helping others gain confidence in subjects they might find overwhelming. I got into tutoring because I love seeing students grow in both ability and self-belief. Outside of tutoring, I also work in theatre, and I bring that creativity and energy into the way I work with students. I aim to create a supportive, encouraging environment where you feel able to ask questions, explore ideas, and stay motivated.

About the lesson

My teaching is centred around adapting to your learning style and your goals. Whether you need help with content, problem solving, or exam practice, we can adapt our lesson strategies to fit in best with school work and independent study. What I've learnt through 5 years of tutoring experience is that what remains constant from student to student is the importance of understanding the core principles. I will make sure that you don't just know but truly understand the content you need for your exams and beyond. I know assessments can be scary and stressful, but I believe learning should be the opposite. My approach is calm and focused, designed to help you build confidence and understand concepts, building from the fundamentals. Alongside being a private tutor, I’ve also taught in secondary schools, giving me a solid foundation in helping students at different stages. I want to help you get better grades and discover what you enjoy in Maths and Science, and guide you towards being in control of your own learning journey. I teach all Sciences up to GCSE, and Physics and Maths up to A Level. I also offer support with university interview preparation and have run mock interviews to help students feel more ready and confident.
