Hi! I'm Lisa Bassett, a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher with a passion for helping learners grow in confidence and reach their full potential. I have a background in Drama and a wealth of experience teaching a variety of subjects including English, Afrikaans, History, Life Skills, Technology, and Geography. I’m also actively involved in event planning, social media, and community fundraising, which brings creativity and real-world experience into my teaching. I use real-life examples, visuals, and storytelling techniques to bring lessons to life, ensuring learners are both supported and challenged. What sets me apart is my ability to build strong rapport with students and create a safe, encouraging space for them to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. I am deeply invested in each learner’s progress, and I take the time to tailor lessons to their specific interests, goals, and learning styles. Languages: I am fluent in both English and Afrikaans, and I am able to teach effectively in either language, depending on the student’s preference. What Students Can Expect: A typical lesson with me is well-structured yet flexible, starting with a warm-up or review, followed by interactive teaching of new content, guided practice, and a short reflection or recap. Students needing help with reading comprehension, essay writing, speech delivery, grammar, and study skills. Learners with barriers to learning who benefit from a calm, supportive, and structured environment. Bilingual students who need tutoring in both English and Afrikaans.
