About Ellie
I have been studying Japanese for 12 years. I started in secondary school when I was 11 years old. I have since done the GCSE, A Level, and have just graduated from my BA Japanese Studies degree at the University of Sheffield. As part of my degree, I spent a year living in Tokyo.
I study other languages outside of Japanese such as Korean and Arabic, so I am very experienced in studying languages and know a variety of effective methods for learning. I am extremely passionate about Japan and the Japanese language, so after over a decade of studying it, I can’t wait to share that passion with others.

When starting a new language, the most important thing is to build a solid foundation in all language skills, which is why my lessons are an even balance of reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. The content of the classes will continue smoothly from previous ones to ensure that everything you learn becomes solidified in your memory. I also adapt my teaching methods to suit the individual based on what level you’re working at and how you learn best. I try my best to make sure my classes are both enjoyable and effective so you’ll be able to really feel the progress you make.
As I am new to teaching, I am currently offering classes to those working at a beginner level. However, I am qualified to teach higher levels of Japanese should you wish to continue studying with me once you've mastered the basics. So, whether you have some of the basics down or if you don’t yet know a single word in Japanese, I’d love the opportunity to get you started on your journey.
