About Me
Hello! i am Rhian Denise S. Hongco. I am 18 years old. I’m a Filipina and a graduating student currently living in the Philippines. Having lived in the Philippines for 18 years, I have grown up surrounded by the Filipino language, culture, and everyday expressions. This has given me a strong and natural understanding of Filipino that I’m excited to share with others.
As a graduating student, I understand the importance of patience, clear communication, and finding learning methods that work best for each individual. I aim to create a friendly and comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions, practicing, and making mistakes as part of the learning process.
I am committed to providing engaging, patient, and effective Filipino lessons tailored to each student's level and goals. Whether you are a beginner learning Filipino for the first time, someone who wants to improve your conversational skills, or a student who needs academic support, I will do my best to make every lesson useful and enjoyable.
I may still be a student myself, but I am passionate about learning and sharing knowledge. I believe that my experience as a young learner allows me to understand the challenges students face and approach teaching with patience, enthusiasm, and an open mind.

My Teaching Approach
My teaching approach is student-centered, interactive, and practical, with the goal of helping students understand and confidently use the Filipino language in real-life situations. I believe that learning Filipino should be engaging and meaningful, not limited to memorizing vocabulary or grammar rules.
I adjust my teaching style according to each student's level, learning goals, and pace. Whether a student is a complete beginner, wants to improve their conversational Filipino, or needs academic support, I create lessons that are appropriate for their needs.
Teaching Methods and Techniques
I use a combination of explanation, conversation, guided practice, and real-life examples. My lessons may focus on:
Filipino vocabulary and everyday expressions
Grammar, sentence structure, and proper usage
Reading comprehension and pronunciation
Writing and sentence construction
Conversational Filipino and practical communication
Listening and speaking practice
Filipino culture and expressions to provide context for the language
Exercises and activities designed around the student's interests and goals
I encourage students to actively participate by answering questions, practicing conversations, creating sentences, and applying what they learn. I also provide gentle corrections and explanations so students understand not only what is correct, but why it is correct.
Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson starts with a short review of previously learned material and a brief conversation or warm-up activity. I then introduce the day's topic, explain the key vocabulary or grammar concepts, and provide examples that are easy to understand.
After the explanation, we practice together through exercises, conversations, reading, or writing activities. I gradually encourage the student to use Filipino independently and apply the lesson to realistic situations.
At the end of the lesson, we review the important points, practice the new vocabulary or expressions, and identify areas to work on in the next lesson.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
What sets me apart is my patience, adaptability, and focus on practical communication. I understand that learning a new language can sometimes feel challenging, so I aim to create a friendly and comfortable environment where students can practice without being afraid of making mistakes.
I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I adapt my lessons to the student's learning style and objectives. For example, a student learning Filipino for travel may need more conversational practice, while a student studying Filipino academically may need greater focus on grammar, reading, and writing.
My goal is to help students become more confident Filipino speakers while developing a genuine understanding and appreciation of the language.
