About Zainab
• In my teaching career of over eleven years in Singapore, I have taught a variety of students – some are highly motivated and high achievers, others are less so, and do not have such lofty goals, and other students who struggle, for no fault of their own – some with Autism spectrum disorder, Tourette syndrome, Dyslexia, Attention deficit disorder as well as students with anxiety and depression. Each day has been a new learning experience for me. Sometimes, it feels like an adventurous roller coaster ride to deal with the students of an age group between 12-18 years. Their inquisitive approach, use of advanced technologies, competitive attitude has always pushed me to do better.
• The sense of accomplishment when a student scores excellent grades in their examinations and knowing that I had a small role in them doing well, and being a spark for greater things is of immense satisfaction. This is magnified when a student who usually struggles, secures a good grade and their acknowledgement of the contribution of the teacher makes all the hard work and effort worthwhile.
I believe that apart from the subject matter, I stand up as a good role model for my students. I have a set of values that guides me and reflects in all my actions – this is leading by example. This is contagious – I am glad that this affects my students positively.

The lessons are based on social constructivism and careful scaffolding in which the students are able to comprehend, apply and reflect on their progress.
Moreover, It is very important for me to provide a safe learning environment to the students.
I believe in breaking down complex concepts into simple terms for better understanding. The constant engagement of the learners is the key to keep the students focussed during the lesson.
