About Daniel

My Name is Daniel Augustine Kalu from Abia state. I am a teacher with wealth of experience and Passion for teaching. I started teaching Mathematics from secondary school because it was and Is still the subject I love. I want to teach online because I want to use this medium to reach out to those who are scared of Mathematics and those who think Mathematics is difficult to understand

About the lesson

surd is an expression that includes a square root, cube root, or other root of a number that cannot be simplified to a finite decimal or fraction. In other words, it's an irrational number that cannot be expressed as a simple fraction.

Examples of surds include:

- √2 (square root of 2)
- √3 (square root of 3)
- ³√2 (cube root of 2)
- ⁴√5 (fourth root of 5)

Surd expressions often arise in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, and are used to represent distances, lengths, and angles.
Laws of Surd
1. √a×√b=√ab
2. √p÷√q=√p/q
3. √m+√n≠√m+n but √m+√m=2√m
4. √a-√b≠√a-b, but 5√a-2√a=3√a
