About Kayla

I graduated from The University of Delaware in 2017 with a degree in Secondary English Education, and spent 5 years teaching middle and high school ELA curriculum. Throughout that time, I also tutored children before and after school. I now teach adults in an online format.

Are you looking for personalized English Language Arts tutoring to help your child improve their reading comprehension, grammar, essay writing, or overall academic performance in ELA classes? I offer supportive, engaging, and individualized instruction designed to help middle and high school students master grammar, organize essays, analyze literature, prepare for exams, or explore creative writing.

I tailor each lesson to their individual needs, learning style, and academic goals. My approach is student-centered, encouraging, and focused on building both skills and confidence. I break down challenging concepts into manageable steps and connect lessons to real-world examples, engaging texts, and topics that interest students.

I use a variety of practical, interactive teaching strategies to make learning effective, engaging, and accessible. I incorporate modeling, guided practice, discussion, writing exercises, examples, and independent work to help students move from understanding a concept to applying it independently.

Each lesson (30-60 minutes) is structured but flexible, allowing me to address the student's immediate needs while building long-term skills.

Lessons can also be adapted for homework support, upcoming tests, essay deadlines, specific assignments, or longer-term skill development.

I strive to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and challenging themselves. I believe that effective tutoring should do more than improve a grade. It should help students develop confidence in their abilities and a stronger appreciation for reading, writing, and communication.
