About Phoebe

Hi! I’m Phoebe, a native English speaker and a sophomore in high school currently enrolled in Advanced English, as well as IB and AP English courses. I have a strong passion for language, literature, and writing, and I love helping others feel more confident and capable in English—whether that’s through improving grammar, mastering essay structure, or exploring literature more deeply.

About the lesson

I use a communicative and learner-centered approach, focusing on building confidence, fluency, and critical thinking. Whether it’s academic English, creative writing, literature analysis, or ESL, I adapt my methods to the learner’s goals.

Techniques I use include:

Close reading and textual analysis for literature and essay work

Modeling and guided writing, followed by independent practice

Socratic questioning to deepen interpretation and argumentation

Language games, roleplay, and real-world scenarios for ESL students

Vocabulary building, grammar in context, and sentence restructuring

Regular feedback and revision cycles to promote self-editing and clarity

A Typical Lesson Plan:

A short activity or discussion based on a prior lesson, a journal prompt, or a vocabulary check-in.

Lesson Focus (30–35 minutes)
For literature: Discuss a passage, analyze literary devices, theme development, and structure.

For ESL: Practice speaking, listening, or reading strategies using real-life topics or texts.

Practice Activity (10–15 minutes)

Wrap-up and Homework (5 minutes)
Recap key takeaways, set a small independent task (reading, vocab review, draft writing), and preview the next session.
