About Tehya

Hi! I’m Tehya, a native Irish English speaker, born and educated in Ireland. I later moved abroad to study at university in Amsterdam and now live in North America, giving me a broad international perspective and experience adapting to different cultures and environments.

I’m a patient, approachable and encouraging person who enjoys helping others learn. I’ve spent time helping friends and university students with their English, particularly with essays and academic writing, and I’ve also helped Spanish-speaking students learn English from the very beginning.

I understand that learning a language can sometimes feel intimidating, especially when you’re worried about making mistakes. I aim to create a friendly and relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, practicing and building confidence.

Whether you’re learning English for personal, academic or professional reasons, I’m here to support you and make the learning process feel approachable and enjoyable.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to your level and goals, with a strong focus on practical English that you can actually use.

Depending on what you want to improve, lessons can include conversation practice, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing and listening. I encourage students to speak and participate as much as possible, while using exercises and explanations to strengthen areas that need more attention.

A typical lesson might begin with a short conversation or warm-up, followed by a specific topic or skill. We can then practice through exercises and discussion before finishing with a practical activity to reinforce what you have learned.

I can work with complete beginners, including Spanish-speaking students learning English from zero, as well as intermediate and advanced learners looking to improve their fluency and accuracy.

I also offer support with English exam preparation, including exam-style questions, speaking practice, reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary and grammar. Lessons can be adapted to the requirements of your particular exam.

For students who need academic English, I can also help develop essay writing, structure, grammar, clarity and the ability to communicate ideas effectively.

The lessons are designed around you: your current level, your objectives and the areas where you want to improve.
